Soils

Soil amendment or mulch for gardens; improves aeration and water retaining capacity. Low pH compost ranging from 6.0 to 7.0. Not available in bags.

Chicken manure mixed with peatmoss that has been composted (aged) with straw at local mushroom farms. Add this material to existing garden beds as a natural fertilizer.

Peatloam is an attractive dark black loam from peat bogs/ponds. It helps retain moisture and is used as an aesthetic topping for garden beds. It has a low pH level but does not add any growing value to existing soil. Not available in Bag Your Own.

Topdressing is a fine blend of sandy loam, compost and aged bark fines used for topdressing lawns and amending existing gardens. Once grass is established, topdressing is the only way to properly replenish the lawn's soil.

Hardwood mulch comes from chipped or shredded branches as well as small trees. Hardwood mulch is an organic mulch, nourishing the soil and plants as it decomposes. Not available in bags.
